第 1 篇 Radio & TV Station That I Used To Work

I started as the News Announcer since 9 May, 1995 evening at Chinese Program of CIRV FM 88.9. I needed to select news from three main sources, namely Hong Kong news, Canadian news and International news. The Hong Kong news came from Hong Kong Ming Pao Newspaper at around 4 pm Toronto time (Hong Kong 4 am next morning) via our regular fax machine. The News film images were sent to Toronto Ming Pao office for printing and publishing. They would be circulated locally in the next morning and the hard copies were delivered all over the city.

There was no internet and digital data in 90’s, the cheapest way to send the pages of newspaper was to compress film positive (negative to positive) into smaller size and there did not include any advertisement. Afterward headquarter of Ming Pao at Toronto resized the film to normal and made the printing for next day circulation.

I needed to rewrite news in verbal format for airing.  Canadian news and international news came from the Canadian Press via a dot-matrix machine, unsorted and all mixed together.

For example a traffic accident with two persons injured:

1) 13:46 Two vehicles crashed at the intersection of A Avenue/ B Street, injured unknown;

2) 13:51 Two drivers were injured at A/B crashed, were sending to the hospital;

3) 15:22 Traffic accidents updated: Two drivers were sent to hospital, 35 years old black male ICU in critical and 46 years old white female in serious condition.
